Just as far as I know, I have these facebook tricks for chat.
Here are ways of your chat text to be bold or underlined or even -- BOTH!

These helped me out and I trick people. Example: (this is true actually)

Your text will be italicized. I like it to work, but it's not. I hope this will work again! Because I started facebook at 2008. I was disappointed. I didn't even know how to put smileys when I was new on facebook!
